NOTE VARIE E STORICHE...| Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi è una delle piante fondamentali della medicina tradizionale cinese, conosciuta con il nome di Huang Qin, ed è documentata in testi classici come lo Shennong Bencao Jing, dove veniva già descritta per il trattamento di febbri e condizioni infiammatorie.
Nel sistema medico cinese è classificata tra le erbe che “eliminano il calore e asciugano l’umidità”, una categoria concettuale che riflette un modello fisiopatologico tradizionale piuttosto che una classificazione biochimica moderna.
La radice essiccata assume una colorazione giallo intensa dovuta alla presenza di flavoni come baicalina e baicaleina, caratteristica che ha contribuito sia al nome tradizionale sia al riconoscimento della droga nella farmacopea.
Negli ultimi decenni la specie ha attirato notevole interesse nella ricerca farmacologica internazionale, in particolare per i suoi flavonoidi, studiati per potenziali applicazioni in oncologia, neurologia e malattie infiammatorie.
È una delle piante più frequentemente incluse nelle formulazioni classiche della medicina cinese, spesso in combinazione con altre droghe, il che ha reso complessa l’attribuzione di effetti clinici specifici alla singola specie nei moderni studi scientifici. |
