NOTE VARIE E STORICHE...| Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai è una delle poche specie appartenenti alla famiglia Chloranthaceae, un gruppo botanico considerato filogeneticamente antico, con caratteristiche morfologiche primitive che la rendono di interesse anche per studi evolutivi sulle angiosperme basali.
Nella medicina tradizionale cinese è conosciuta con il nome di “Cao Shan Hu” e viene storicamente associata al trattamento di condizioni febbrili e infettive, con un uso documentato da secoli nei testi medici classici, in particolare nelle regioni meridionali della Cina.
Durante il XX secolo, la pianta ha acquisito rilevanza nella ricerca farmacologica cinese per il suo impiego come supporto nelle leucopenie indotte da chemioterapia, diventando oggetto di studi sperimentali mirati alla stimolazione dell’emopoiesi.
Un aspetto curioso riguarda la presenza di sesquiterpenoidi strutturalmente complessi e relativamente rari, che hanno attirato l’interesse della chimica naturale per la loro originalità biosintetica e per le potenziali applicazioni farmacologiche.
La specie è anche coltivata localmente come pianta ornamentale per il fogliame lucido e persistente e per le infruttescenze decorative di colore rosso vivo, che la rendono facilmente riconoscibile nei contesti subtropicali. |
